We congratulate!

It’s starts!

For the 27th time the Freiburger Lesbian Film Days take place at the Kommunale Kino and again you can look forward to many fantastic films and events.

We start our festival with the lively indie comedy-drama film SIGNATURE MOVE featuring the wonderful comedian Fawzia Mirza acting a solicitor in Chicago, who gets into trouble when her Pakistani TV-obsessed mother moves in. Family problems are also a topic in the light-hearted dramedy EXTRA TERRESTRES – on a chicken farm in Puerto Rico. Both films premier on our festival.

Quite a different kind of family story is shown in SMALL TALK - a Taiwanese documentary feature film in which the director Huang Hui-chen attempts to reveal and reconcile a painful past shared between herself and her mother. Small Talk was awarded the Teddy Award for Best Documentary Film at the Berlin Film Festival.

On Friday director Catharina Göldner and her main actress Katharina Behrens are visiting us and introduce their wonderful film KOSMONAUTENSEHNSUCHT. We are looking forward to the discussion after the screening.

Several films deal with the topic of youth and growing up. The Austrian movie SIEBZEHN by Monja Art won the Max Ophüls Preis in January. In LOOPING Jella Haase (known from „Fack ju Göhte“) is searching for her identity whereas our closing film FIRST GIRL I LOVED shows the painful side of first love.

What life is really like at our schools we will learn from the people of „FLUSS“ (Freiburgs „Verein für Bildungsarbeit zu Geschlecht und sexueller Orientierung“). They made the film WIR KÖNNEN NUR GEWINNEN about their job and this film also premiers.

For all the friends of early films we show on Sunday a matinee: DIE TASCHENDIEBIN from South Korea. A very sensual variation of a story by Sarah Waters. Maybe some of you remember it as „Fingerfood mit Fingersmith“. And also this time there will be some snacks before the film starts.

Of course, we also offer you an exquisite choice of lesbian SHORT FILMS from all over the world.

We invite you to participate as a juror and nominate one long and one short film for the audience prize, the „Goldene Tanna“.

This year for the first time we have a second venue: on Thursday and Sunday films are screened at „Kulturaggregat: hilda5“. Here you’ll also find a bar and music…

Our FRAUEN-FILM-PARTY (Ladies only) on Friday takes place in the Wodanhalle at the Ganter-Biergarten. It is not far away from the cinema and a great place to meet other women and to dance all night. Our cocktail bar on Saturday has a long standing tradition …

There is a lot to explore at the Lesbian Film Days!
You are very welcome!
